Team meeting in modern office setting

This is where ecommerce finance gets redefined.

Built by operators, analysts, and CFOs who believe fast-growing brands deserve more than a bookkeeper and a prayer.

A letter from the Founder

We’re glad you found us.

One of the most important reasons I started Ecom CFO was the cultural fit with the founders of brands and general ecommerce business owners. We all just seemed to get along while still delivering serious when we needed to be.

I hope through getting to know us we’re able to demonstrate why we think we’re the best outsourced financial firm in the industry. …and the best fit for you

Our best clients are pragmatic, resourceful, open minded, and constantly pushing themselves to be better. We like to think we are too.

And I hope you give us the opportunity to prove it.

How we think about growth, finance, and building Ecom CFO

Beginning in 2023, our founder writes a public letter reflecting on what we’ve learned — as a team, as a company, and as strategic partners to the brands we serve.

Our Culture

Delivering Excellence. Freedom & Responsibility. Context, not Control.

Our culture starts with our values — reviewed and refined every quarter we’ve been in business.

Our Values

Excellence

We take pride in our work and deliver excellence to clients.

Action

We are biased towards action.

Positive Attitude

We bring a positive attitude to work and we make the team better.

Emotional Intelligence

We are emotionally intelligent and self reflective.

Thoughtful Solutions

We respectfully disagree and work thoughtfully toward mutually effective solutions.

Knowledge & Innovation

We actively seek knowledge and innovation.

Embrace Change

We embrace change.

Build Together

We build the firm we want to work in.

3 Key Elements of Our Culture

1

High Performance

Imagine if everyone you worked with — and every client you served — was someone you respected, learned from, and would fight to keep. That’s the bar we’re aiming for at Ecom CFO.

Group video call with diverse participants.

Our first core value is delivering excellence — and it’s not just lip service. It’s why Ecom CFO succeeds today, and why we’ll succeed tomorrow. We want our clients to like us (and we want to like them), but relationships are built on outcomes, not just vibes. Excellence applies externally and internally.

We're a team — not a family.

Families are built on love. Teams are built on mutual respect, trust, and shared goals. Your contribution here matters. You’re not filling a seat. You’re making the team better — or you’re holding it back.

That doesn’t mean we’re robots. Teams support each other, build real relationships, and have fun — but the foundation is performance.

We prioritize effectiveness, not effort.

We don’t track how many meetings you attend or how many weekends you log.

We do care how much, how well, and how fast you get things done — especially when it counts.

2

Freedom & Responsibility

Ecom CFO is a remote-first company. Why? To bring together the best mix of people – geographically agnostic – to create great teams in support of our mission.

Remote-first by design

We still value in-person, but on our own terms – not on the rigid terms of going into an office everyday.

Our clients are dynamic. Our clients’ needs are rapidly changing. Our team is diverse. Our team has changing personal needs (kids schedules, working styles, time zones, holidays).

We don’t waste time creating rigid policies and creating unnecessary hierarchy.

Rather, we choose to hire and nurture responsible people who thrive in a culture with more freedom.

The right amount of structure

Freedom doesn’t mean we don’t have rules and processes. We want the right amount of rules, processes, and automation, so that our teams waste less time with bureaucracy and ambiguity, and more time delivering excellence.

Rules, processes, and expectations provide clarity, and therefore, inherently increase freedom.

3

Context, Not Control

In a perfect world, all members of the team would have the exact same information at the exact same time (slack DMs, ad hoc meetings, internal meetings, leadership’s reasoning behind a decision, etc).

Our approach to information sharing

This is not possible, nor efficient. But it does cause problems. Our aim is to keep record and provide the most appropriate amount of context and the best quality context to the appropriate team at the appropriate time.

Why Do We Emphasize Context?

Responsible people who take pride in delivering great work want to understand the context and why they are doing something.
